Restoring Hope Village (RHV) is a community of homes in Welkom, South Africa, dedicated to caring for children who have been neglected, abused, or orphaned. RHV provides these children with a loving home where they often experience a sense of love and belonging for the first time. Although we cannot replace their biological families, the children form strong bonds with one another and with their houseparents.
The village employs local houseparent/s who live with six children in each house, creating a family-like atmosphere. As a result, we encounter many of the same challenges and blessings as typical families, and sometimes even more.
Restoring Hope Village introduces children to Christ as their only source of hope, emphasizing the transformative power of faith in their lives. By teaching the Gospel and fostering a personal relationship with Jesus, the village helps children understand that true hope and healing come from His love and sacrifice. This spiritual foundation provides them with strength and resilience, enabling them to face life's challenges with courage and optimism. Through Bible studies, worship, and prayer, children learn to rely on Christ for guidance and comfort, discovering that His unwavering support is the key to overcoming adversity and finding purpose and joy.
Restoring Hope Village thrives through the generous support of churches, businesses, individuals, and its child sponsorship program. Churches contribute by providing financial donations, volunteer efforts, and spiritual guidance. Businesses often engage in partnerships, offering financial backing, resources, and services that enhance the village's infrastructure and programs. Individual donors contribute through monetary gifts, volunteer work, and advocacy. The child sponsorship program is a key component, allowing sponsors to directly support children's education, healthcare, and daily needs. This diverse network of support ensures that Restoring Hope Village can continue its mission of providing a safe, nurturing environment for vulnerable children, fostering their growth and spiritual development.
